Emory St. Joseph's Hospital is seeking an RN with a heart for hearts to join our 21 bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CCU) that offers an opportunity to care for complex cardiac patients. Population includes mostly high acuity pre-surgery (cath lab, heart failure, stents, balloon pumps, Impellas, etc.) with a focus on cardiogenic shock and interventional cardiac patients, as well as a blend of medical patients with cardiac components.

6E is a 24-bed Cardiovascular Surgical Intermediate Care Unit that provides comprehensive health care twenty-four hours daily to adults with cardiovascular illness. Diagnoses and procedures include but are not limited to coronary bypass grafts, aortic, mitral, and pulmonic or tricuspid valve repair or replacement, heart transplantation, thoracic aneurysm repair, congenital heart defect repair, and ventricular assist devices. The patient population also includes cardiology patients with ICD's, pacemakers, CHF, pre-PTCA, pre or post-cardiac catheterization, EP studies, or CAD. In addition, 6E assists in managing care for patients with non-cardiac diagnoses who need cardiac telemetry monitoring secondary to new-onset cardiac dysrhythmias or patients with worsening cardiac symptoms.
6E consists of twenty-four beds and is a primary telemetry unit. In addition, telemetry antennae allow for monitoring patients from a remote location. This unit is proud to be part of a Magnet-recognized hospital that is helping define a new standard of care for patients.
The nursing staff must complete an orientation program with competency assessments and recertification conducted annually or as needed. Registered nurses provide nursing care with a nurse/patient ratio of 1:4. Patient care assistants provide assistive care with a patient ratio of 1:8. The nursing staff is required to maintain BLS and ACLS certification.
