8E Pulmonary/Thoracic/Vascular Surgery is an Intermediate / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) that was awarded a Silver Beacon Award for providing excellence nursing care to patients
· The only Lung Transplant Center in the state of Georgia
· The only unit with staff trained to care for Adult Pulmonary Hypertension and Lung Transplant patients
· Staff are trained to provide care to patients who have complex pulmonary, thoracic and vascular surgery needs
· Staff also trained to provide care to Vascular Surgery patients who require life-saving revascularization procedures
· One of the hospital’s highest performers in patient satisfaction
· RN Ratio 1:4 (1:3 New Lung Transplant)
· NT/PCA 1:8
· 24 bed unit at Emory University Hospital
· APP coverage available on unit during day and coverage available on nights
· Interdisciplinary Team of staff continuously collaborates to provide exceptional care to patients
The med-surg unit is a 36 bed unit with private rooms. The unit has two med rooms, an employee lounge and visitors area. The unit has multiple resources for staff and patients such as Rehab services and Dialysis unit. We also have a unit base pharmacist. Our charge nurses and department assistants are friendly and helpful. Our unit base educator is a wealth of knowledge for new staff. We have a ratio of 1:6. We are the largest inpatient unit in the hospital and pride ourselves for giving great care. We continue to zero central line and Foley catheter infection in over a years. Fast paced free standing 50 bed Long Term Acute Care Hospital (LTAC). Providing care to patients with respiratory, neurological, orthopedic, cardiac, oncological and other critically unstable patients. All patients require education and many require airway management. This facility offers- wound management, HD (Hemodialysis), PD (Peritoneal Dialysis), LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) to aid in reaching their optimal level of recovery. They are Disease Specific Certified by the Joint Commission in respiratory care, wound care, and acquired brain injury. Patients require an interdisciplinary approach from physicians, nurses, rehab, respiratory, wound care, and case management- all on site. If critical care interests you, this would be a wonderful place to start.

We are a fast-paced 22 bed medical-surgical Neuro Vascular unit with emphasis on these patients. We are Stroke Certified and Magnet recognized. We foster a culture of valuing support, encouragement, learning, empowerment and fun. Types of cases on this unit include post-op craniotomies, fem-pop bypasses, amputations, PVD, blood clots, seizures, strokes and more.
