    JOB DESCRIPTION: Oversees and directs performance improvement activities and patient outcome studies within Cardiology Services. Oversees clinical data registries. Collaborates with medical directors to promote inter-disciplinary QA/QI activities. Ensures requirements are met for accreditations- i.e. ACE, ICAEL, Radiology, VAD, and cardiac transplant. Monitors and evaluates compliance with Joint Commission and Magnet accreditation within clinical patient care areas. Functions as a liaison between Cardiology and Inpatient Nursing. Ensures competency of staff. Develops departmental goals. Ensures services provided are consistent with company policies, service standards and applicable laws and regulations through management of the services and ongoing assessment and supervision of all client and assigned staff.

    Directs and supports budgetary responsibilities and obligations, salary expense, and supply costs. Partners with Senior Leadership to develop annual operating budget preparation, monitors and analyzes performance and productivity and implements necessary corrective plans. Collaborates with other departments as required in budget preparation, determining capital priorities, monitoring and analyzing trends. Utilizes budget information in management decision-making.

    Identifies and assists in the development and revision of nursing practice and patient care standards. Supports clinical programs within Cardiology Nursing and integrates research findings into Nursing Practice. Maintains records on departments' personnel activities and processes. Maintains integrity and confidentiality of management and clinical information.

    Participates in national professional and related organizations to ensure current knowledge of staffing operations. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.

    Maintains open and positive communication with staff, physicians, other hospital departments and others. Builds positive working relationships. Manages conflict. Ensures UPCs for procedural areas are meeting and integrating recommendations and process changes into nursing practice. Ensures representatives attend the entity based councils.



    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree required. Master's degree must be in nursing if bachelor's is not BSN. 5 years cardiology nursing experience and 3 years cardiology leadership experience required. Current Georgia licensure as an RN is requried.
