Description

Job Summary: The Clinical Liaison is responsible for initiating and building professional relationships with patients, families, physicians, clinicians, and other healthcare providers to promote and facilitate rehabilitation services. This role serves as the advocate for acute rehabilitation services, aiding patients in their transition to the rehabilitation hospital. The successful Clinical Liaison will assess patient eligibility for rehabilitation services, provide professional guidance, and ensure a seamless admission process while collaborating with admissions staff and other healthcare professionals. Primary duties and responsibilities: Business Development and Relationship Building: 1. Develop relationships with referral sources, including acute care hospital personnel, discharge planners, and insurance case managers, to promote rehabilitation services. 2. Educate stakeholders; patients, families, physicians, clinicians - on available rehabilitation services and benefits. 3. Facilitate patient admissions by coordinating preadmission assessments and obtaining necessary documentation to streamline the process. 4. Build and maintain professional credibility while expanding rehabilitation services within assigned market regions. Patient Admission Support: 1. Prepare, complete, and document detailed preadmission assessments that meet regulatory requirements and reflect critical thinking on medical necessity and rehabilitation needs. 2. Communicate effectively with patients and families, offering clear guidance on rehabilitation options while addressing any special needs, such as equipment or medication requirements. 3. Act as the primary contact ensuring a smooth patient transition into the rehabilitation hospital. Documentation and Compliance: 1. Ensure preadmission assessments and associated documentation are completed in a timely and thorough manner. 2. Maintain compliance with all regulatory and operational standards, including sound judgment in handling confidential healthcare information. Collaboration and Communication: 1. Participate in strategic meetings with hospital leadership, business development, and referring departments. 2. Share market intelligence and referral/admissions data to support business development strategies and implement targeted marketing initiatives aimed at growing market share. 3. Support colleagues and adapt to business needs with flexibility by covering or assisting other liaisons in the field when necessary. Education and Advocacy: 1. Provide education to patients, families, hospital personnel, and community stakeholders on acute rehabilitation services through formal and informal methods. 2. Offer consultative guidance to physicians, case managers, and therapists on rehabilitation suitability. Travel: travel between operating units may be required, but less than 10% Work Type: On-Site

 

 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

RJV: Education / Experience: Two years related experience Licensure: Current and valid state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as a Registered Nurse, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech Language Pathologist required. Multi-State licensure may be required based on geographical territory Skills, Abilities, & Knowledge: Demonstrated competency with the preadmission process including assessments and relationship building in a rehabilitation setting or in another post acute care setting preferred Proven track record in sales and marketing with at least one year experience in a related position preferred Demonstrated computer proficiency Must exercise sound judgment in handling professional/confidential nature of health care sales Long Term Acute Care (LTAC): Education: Associate's degree Experience: Four (4) years previous experience as a Clinical Liaison required. Prior experience working in a clinical setting involving direct patient diagnosis or assessing acuity for complex patients/residents is necessary. Licensure :GA LPN, RN, PT, OT, RRT, or Speech licensure required. Preferred Qualifications: RJV: Experience: Working in a clinical healthcare setting or previous experience working in a clinical liaison role preferred. LTAC: Knowledge, skills, and ability requirements (preferred): Proven track record in sales and marketing, with at least one (1) year of experience in a related role. Two (2) years of prior experience in a clinical liaison role or similar setting. Proficiency in preadmission assessments, patient diagnosis, and relationship-building. Demonstrated experience using systems for business development data tracking.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium Max 25lbs): up to 25 lbs., 0-33% of the work day (occasionally) Lifting 25 lbs. max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs.; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environmental conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure, Bio-hazardous waste chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, Communicable diseases, Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
