Clinical Liaision, Acute Rehab. This individual does the follow:
- Initiates and develops professional relationships with current and potential referral sources and patients in acute care hospitals or with other healthcare providers to grow and build business. Educates patients, families, physicians and clinicians on rehabilitation services. Facilitates patients admission into the rehabilitation hospital. Achieves quantifiable objectives set by hospital management. The successful Clinical Liaison works closely with the admissions Department, Acute Care hospital personnel, Discharge planners and providers in need of Acute Rehab services. They develop professional relationships with insurance case managers and assist with insurance authorization and/or coordination of benefits as necessary.
- Clinical Liaisons possess the skills to assess a patients eligibility for and feasibility of rehabilitation services in consultation with the patient and their family members, treating physicians, clinicians and case managers. They review and analyze medical records and obtain patient histories, which are key to a determination of suitability for rehabilitative services.
- A Liaison is expected to prepare and complete a detailed preadmission assessment timely and thoroughly, which meets all regulatory requirements. Their documentation must reflect critical thinking and rationale for admission inclusive of medical necessity and projective rehabilitation needs. Liaisons participate in strategic meetings with hospital leadership, DBD, referring departments and new business partners. They assist in providing market intelligence information as well as share strategies and results with co-workers, business partners and providers. They are accountable to and work to develop these professional relationships while promoting rehabilitation services. As a team member, they demonstrate nimbleness and flexibility by supporting other liaisons in the field as appropriate. They develop and maintain professional credibility. Working toward mutual respect and building confidence in the acute rehabilitation services throughout assigned market areas. Excellent professional communication is a key job expectation.
- Clinical Liaisons use tact, appropriate written communication in both tone and language providing information and support as needed. A liaison acts as the primary contact throughout the transition into the rehabilitation hospital. This includes collaboration and communication with admission staff, clinical staff and hospital personnel as appropriate fostering a smooth transition. They successfully communicate special needs, equipment and or medication so it is readily available upon arrival of the patient. They demonstrate effective problem solving skills. As the advocate for rehabilitation services, they are the on-site expert, provide formal and informal education to patients, family members, hospital personnel and community. They can provide consultative services to physicians, case managers, therapists and other staff regarding suitable rehabilitative services.
- The liaison works with the Director of business development creating and supporting sales and marketing initiatives. They are expected to complete the business development data forms timely and accurately. They are able to use this data driving the business plan, managing referrals/admissions/denials and developing appropriate marketing initiatives designed to grow market share. The liaison drives business from assigned markets. They continually strive to improve processes by regularly identifying improvements.
- A clinical liaison performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Current and valid state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as a Registered Nurse, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech Language Pathologist required.
Multi-State licensure may be required based on geographical territory Two years related experience working in a clinical healthcare setting or previous experience working in a clinical liaison role preferred.
Demonstrated competency with the preadmission process including assessments and relationship building in a rehabilitation setting or in another post acute care setting preferred
Proven track record in sales and marketing with at least one year experience in a related position preferred Demonstrated computer proficiency Must exercise sound judgment in handling professional/confidential nature of health care sales
