Department Overview:

Emory Healthcare's Ophthalmology team is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Ophthalmology team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in patient care, particularly within the ophthalmology specialty, and a strong understanding of the unique needs of this patient population. The RN will be responsible for delivering safe, effective, and individualized care while utilizing the Synergy Model for Care.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to ophthalmology patients, including educating them on in-office procedures such as injections and laser treatments.
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care independently.
  • Personalize care based on individual patient and family input, goals, and preferences.
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for patients and families, ensuring clear and respectful communication with all stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate developed assessment skills and recognize the impact of nursing interventions on patient outcomes.
  • Document patient care accurately and in compliance with organizational standards.
  • Identify patient and family learning needs, making appropriate referrals to educational resources.
  • Manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities in alignment with the AACN Synergy Model.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and recognize their roles in patient care planning.
  • Facilitate effective communication and conflict resolution among team members and with patients/families.
  • Respect patient confidentiality and maintain professionalism in all interactions.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to department initiatives to address discipline-specific needs.

Description

8am-4:30pm / Monday-Friday / Full Time / 40 hours

 

We are seeking a capable Registered Nurse / RN who has acquired broad experience in caring for patients and has developed a sound understanding about the care of a particular patient population.

 

  • Routinely uses acquired knowledge, theory, research and experience to respond to changes in clinical situations.
  • Is able to apply the Synergy Model for Care in practice and use this knowledge to personalize care for each patient/family.
  • Delivers safe, dependable and effective care to a patient population independently utilizing the nursing process.
  • Evaluates patient's response to planned care and adjusts plan of care as appropriate.
  • Incorporates AACN Synergy Model into clinical practice.
  • Collects, reports, analyzes and provides data on an ongoing basis and as required by physician and/or interdisciplinary teams in accordance with organization standards.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing 12 months of recent nursing experience within the past five years or recent completion of a re-entry nursing program.
  • Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
  • BLS certification required and ACLS may be required in designated departments.
  • Exceptions: Individuals currently employed as a LPN within the EHC system at the time of completion of an accredited RN program and becoming licensed as a RN will be considered eligible to move to the Nurse Clinician title while matriculating through the Resident program.
