Description

The Nursing Professional Development Specialist is responsible for patient care coordination from admission through discharge; ensuring smooth transitions of care as the patient is discharged from the hospital setting, ensuring and facilitating high quality clinical and cost outcomes, procuring and securing post-acute services, coordinating and advocating for patients and families with both internal and external stakeholders, and identifying and addressing potential barriers to care coordination/discharge planning in an effort to foster efficient care delivery and maximize reimbursement.

 

  • Uses expertise in the roles of learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion of scientific inquiry, advocate for the Nursing Professional Development (NPD) specialty, and partner for practice transitions- per the Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) Practitioner guidelines (roles).
  • The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: - Orientation/onboarding - Education - Professional role development - Research/evidence-based practice /quality improvement - Collaborative partnerships - Competency management Aligns with the scope and standards of the Specialist role of Nursing Professional Development as defined by ANPD.
  • Provide input into the development of the departmental budget.
  • Supports the use of current evidence-based education guidelines during implementation of educational programs.
  • Supports the organization through inter-professional education and collaborative practice.
  • Respects diversity by considering cultural, ethnic, generational and other differences in planning to meet learner needs.
  • these considerations while engaging learners. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
  • Graduate degree in nursing, preferably with a focus in Nursing Education.
  • Four years of clinical practice expertise, and NPD board certification within 9 months of hire.
  • BLS certification required, ACLS preferred.
