Our Unit Nurse Educator will be responsible for being a capable clinician who has acquired broad experience in caring for patients, and has developed a sound understanding about the care of a particular patient population and routinely uses acquired knowledge, theory, research and experience to respond to changes in clinical situations. The RN professional is able to apply the Synergy Model for Care in practice, and use this knowledge to personalize care for each patient/family.

Description

  • Provide all on-boarding to permanent and agency staff members and maintains unit competency for all staff members (holds annual skills fair) within TJC guidelines.
  • Maintain education records via HLC for all staff members including running reports and making any necessary assignments.
  • Provides in-services on educational topics as they arise and in conjunction with annual requirements.
  • Serve as the unit’s representatives on various practice councils at ESJH and any necessary committees as they arise and pertains to the unit’s directly or indirectly (IP, Quality, Safety, CAUTI, CLABSI, etc.)
  • Perform chart audits and performs 1:1 observations as necessary.
  • Attend continuous education opportunities and provides updates to the staff members and attends quarterly UNE forums on behalf of the department.
  • Develop and maintain unit orientation binders which are subject to change with organizational changes and EBP.
  • Participate in interviews for perspective new hires.
  • Collaborates and support Nursing Schools as students are assigned to the units for observation.

 

       MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Two years experience as an RN with a minimum of two years of experience in the area of concentration.
  • Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board. Nursing certification preferred.
  • Completion of formal preceptor training workshop. BLS required and ACLS may be required in designated departments. If promoted internally or hired externally, the incumbent must complete UNE criteria requirements within nine months of promotion or hire, including completion of Enhancing your Communication HLC#6488.

 

Shift:

7am - 3:30pm

 

Salary range:

$30.12 - 41.86 / hr.

Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
